The silver is scratched from wear and storage, as is typical with pre-owned jewelry. This ring has tarnishing and patina that may not come off when polished. 

Please note, the edges of the of the band are badly scratched!

The rhodium plating is coming off exposing the silver underneath. More of the plating will come off with wear.
